Ha… food reviewer is back. Just got a mood to review food again, so here it is. Wake up at noon today and feel like go & buy food for my lunch. Decided to go TB market hawker centre, one of my fav place to eat, good food and affordable.
There are 3 specific stalls that I usually step in for food as I did today, which are Tiong Bahru bao, Tiong Bahru Chicken rice and Tiong Bahru Roasted Pig Speciality (if I’m not mistaken). Everybody knows that TB pao is one of the best bao in Singapore, today I bought Cha siew bao, pork xiao bao & lotus paste pao. Then I also bought roasted pork rice from Tiong Bahru Roasted Pig Speciality stall, which I think is the best roasted pork in town, since I can’t find another one as good as my hometown roasted pork. Then as usual one of my fav chix rice stall, Tiong Bahru Chicken rice, unfortunately I ordered roasted chix rice that I always love instead of the white chix rice, instead I just found that I got a white one after I reach home, so dissapointed, but taste still there of course…
So this is only a short review of it, now it’s time for photo session and then I’ll continue watch Anthony Bourdain No Reservation… wohoo…

Been a while here since my last one. This will be a short post after all.
It just happens for me to post this few words after I watch a movie that inspired me the most, Grey’s anatomy, which I think i really inspiring. There they are:
“There’s a way
when things look like there’s no way
there’s a way
To do the impossible, to survive the unsurvivable
There’s always a way
we inspired
in the face of the impossible
we inspired
Today if you become frightened
instead become inspired”
The other one will be
“everyday we all experience these moment of peace
the trick is to know when they’re happening
so that we can embrace them,
live in them
and finally let them go”
The coolest part of all is when two people having an argument or doubt, then instead having an argument or fight, the coolest person will say:
“Go home. Sleep on it
we’ll talk more tomorrow”

Yo… been a while since I updated my blog, coz of laziness and nothing else, haha… Been busy working and studying until last week after my term exam finish, I took off from work and headed back to my hometown… Been fun, boring, trying good food, bad food, etc.
Mostly what I’ve done daily is lazying around and playing with my cute nephew… Been cooking and baking abit for my family and hanging out with my old frenz…
So as usual what I looking to eat when I’m home is sideroad food which remind me of my day back in high school, nasi padang, sate padang, misop, rujak, etc. but dunno why this time I’m home, I dun really craving for any food, weird. And also I’ve been a good fren with toilet seat where I spent few times everyday to visit it :p… Maybe becoz of the cleanliness of the food or simply my stomach not as strong as before in handling spicy food…
So last Sunday me, my eldest sis, my bro in law and his family going to J. W. Marriot hotel for dinner in a steakhouse called PRIME. First impression of the place is a very cozy place where 1st floor is a lounge which is a nice place to either chatting or hearing music, while 2nd floor is a fine dining steak house or maybe a semi fine dining steakhouse. The servers are all warm and welcoming. Then when I saw the menu, it’s quite fancy (for my hometown standard) where there’s wagyu (marbling grade up to 7+) n angus with a reasonable price according to me which is ard Rp. 250.000++. So I decided to ordered Lamb rack with dianne sauce and 2 other side dishes, bluecheese salad and maple baked sweet potato. My sister also ordered a angus rib eye steak with baked potato and baby spinach.
While waiting for the food, we’re chatting about the restaurant. And after the food is served, obviously we enjoyed it, haha… For me, the steak is quite good, where I ordered a Medium doneness and it’s exactly come with the correct doneness while my sister ordered for a medium well instead she received a medium one as well, but it’s not a big problem for her… After the meal, I decided to walk around the restaurant and observing the kitchen which is a open concept one and a very quite one since there isn’t crowded in the restaurant, only 3 table occupied, it’s either becoz of J. W. Marriot and Ritz Carlton Jakarta was bomb that morning. All the chef is doing mise en place but they’re quite professional with their equipment there.
So after the dinner we decided to walk around and see the hotel room as well as the club house which is very nice and I could say the best in my hometown. So end up we watch HBO in my bro in law family room until it ended. So that’s all I can share rite now, since I dunno what to do here. Tomorrow I headed back to Spore for my daily life. *Sigh
Note:
1. My deepest regret and condolences for the Jakarta bomb victim, may God Bless them and all their family
2, My deepest condolences for my relative in Jakarta, my aunt’s dad (My eldest uncle’s wife), who passed away this morning. May all of the family stays strong and may He Rest in Peace
End Review:
PRIME steakhouse – J. W. Marriot Medan
Food : 4/5
Service : 4/5
Ambiance : 4.5/5
Price : $$$
That’s all peeps,
Peace…
Here it comes food review from me… Here is the 3 place recently I went and tried the food, Maybe I’ll start with TB market chix rice… It used to be my fav roasted chix rice stall in Singapore when I still stay ard TB, but last week I went back there and have a plate for lunch, strangely it’s not as good as it used to be which is a disappointment for me since I’ve to go and find another stall that sell a good one. But the taste is still good though but not WOW… The other famous chix rice stall I’ve visited long time ago is Tian-Tian chix rice stall at Maxwell food centre (hopefully it’s correct), the one that Chef Anthony Bourdain visited when he come to Singapore, for me it’s just okay, not that WOW although there’s a long queue involved in getting a plate of rice in both stall, hehe. Last but not least is Boon Tong Kee @River valley, The skin of the roasted chix is good, but the meat kinda dry, so still not the best, haha… Next one I’m going to try is Wee Nam Kee (@Novena)
Now enough for chix rice, move on to Bah Kut Teh. until now the best Bah Kut Teh (clear soup, not the dark one like in M’sia)for me is @Balliestier rd which called Famous Bah Kut Teh. A unique restaurant that most of the wall is covered with photos of the owner with celebrity or famous people (including Chow Yun Fat). The soup is a lil bit pepper hot but a good accompaniment for the rice and the pig throtle and salted vegs is not b ad either. But as a food explorer still have to try the other one which I heard as good as FBKT is behind shell petrol station at Jalan Besar (Must go and try :p)
Moving on to prata and indian food. Few places I visited, but I’ll review only two which is The prata house @Thomson and the one @Jalan Kayu (sori I forgot the name). @Thomson, I went there with few of my classmate back when I’m in service excellence course. The Paper prata is really good, the ayam masalla is not bad either although the bryani rice, other flavor prata, indian rojak and murtabak is so so only. Move on to the one @Jalan kayu. Went there on my bday this year with few lembeierz (thx peeps for the bday surprise and lovely dinner, oops), the prata is quite good, the mutton curry is faboulous so did the Ice teh tarik, nyam… But the other food is just so so…
Last review in this post is going to the steak. I’ve tried few places for steak. So far I can give you review on 2 places, Botak Jones @Youth Council near by Cineleisure and Outback steak at Marina Square. Outback, I went there with Pops, try the steak and onion. The bloomingonion is bitter and weird which I bite once and return it back to the server (oops my bad) but I’m not asking for change just ommited it from the bill. Then pops tried the sirloin and I tried the ribeye. The meat is kinda tough although I requested for medium and so did the one pops tried with MW doneness. So the place is kinda dissapointing. Then for Botak Jones this is my 3rd time there, fast forward to the last one.last week after Push movie @Cine. He ordered rosmary lamb chop with FF and coleslaw, while I ordered 300 g OZ prime ribeye with Medium Doneness with FF and baked potato. The food is surprisingly good despite the price. The lamb chop is as good as last time I ordered it although the rosemary sauce is not a good accompaniment for the steak. The ribeye is also good, not chewy and hard, instead it’s tender where the FF is also good although the baked potato is just okay. Actually there’s one more restaurant I can review regarding steak and ribs which is Tony Roma’s since I worked there before and I’ve tried most of their menu, but it’ll be a long story then, haha… maybe next time.

That’s all folks,
Note: Sorry if the review and my blog is too long like a short story, still practice to write a good blog and review… :p
Haha, straight away after 1st post I’m writing the second one…
Now it’s about my school day, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday, as usual lecture early in the morning, almost late reach 5 mins before it starts. Boring lecture about microwave cooking (who cooks in a microwave? if reheat of defroze still ok) 0 and platting (still ok, since got to see nice pics of professional platting, also lame one :p)… One thing that’s funny when we talking about microwave, my classmate said he used to dry his clothes in microwave so it’s more hygienic and we make jokes that he dry his underwear in a microwave and his mom reheating foods with that too which result in a underwear flavor dish (Can u imagine).
Then after that we demonstrate our platting skill in Asian kitchen. Me, Fiona and jack is the chosen team and all of us is being ask to cook and make vietnamese spring roll, spiced fruit compote and Thai spicy prawn salad. 3 of us mise en place together, Jack doing spiced fruit compote and prawn salad, while Fio concentrate on carving garnishing and I’m handling the spring roll. Jack got a really good knife skill which I can say the best in the class and he manage to hint me few tips. So after we finish with our prep and cooking, we start to plate the dish. Again Jack plated the prawn salad, Fiona plated the spring roll and spiced fruit compote and my part was to plate amuse bouche of that three foods with the help of my team mate of course. And 3 of us really happy with the outcome although there’re still feedback from chef Boon…. The photos of the plated dishes will be upload later on.
After school, went to take meds from Riyan at cineleisure also bought Push tickets for later that nite then went back home for my logbook. Manage to cleaning up my room a bit and went out again to my workplace to get my logbook signed. Straight away to cineleisure for Push (review is in another post). After the movie, me and pops went to Botak Jones and youth park for our dinner (review and pics on other post) and after stuffed and few chats, we went home…
Following days which is today, again almost late for the class, 5 mins before it starts, only revision for next week term 3 final exam (wish me luck
) then went home to create desserts and here it is…

Mixed berries ice cream with toasted bread&banana with choco-hazelnut sauce
See ya
Note: please comment on the dessert and photography skill. Thx peeps

Nothing much actually, morning washing all the smelly clothes, then went to TB market to eat my fav roasted chix rice which is a dissapointmen to me, coz it’s not as good as last time I ate. Then went to my ex-boss office which happen to be my ex-apartment to get my letter and then went to Sia Huat spent bout 50+bucks for blowtorch, rolling pin and a set of nozzles for piping. Taking CT8 to AMK and went to Phoon Huat for some baking items and Fairprice at AMK Hub for monthly needs… Reach home ard 7 and start prep for dinner which later on Pops come and join me.
Just few simple dishes, Stir fried basil beef, steamed veggies with olive oil and spring onion also spiced fried tofu and hot&sour soup. Veggies is good, tofu is lack of some ingredients so still can be improve. beef one taste and texture is good just the quality of the beef meat is sucks (what do you expect slice beef from fairprice) and again a failed H&S soup in term of egg texture (*sigh)…
That’s most of my off day, it’s gone as fast as clicking my finger…
